Volunteers Needed

The Carnival’s success is dependent upon the participation of many volunteers (over 250 volunteer hours on Carnival day alone!), and helping out for an hour will ensure that the entire event runs smoothly. Anyone interested in volunteering in areas outside the booths (set up, clean up, food, prizes) or CCHS students interested in service hours should contact a member of the Staffing Committee. Contact carnival@willardptg.org.

Spare Change

Willard families are invited to collect spare change to donate to a worthy cause during Willard Carnival. All of the money raised by Spare Change 2010 will go toward the purchase of new picnic tables to be located under the shade structure on the playground. Here's how you can participate:

  1. Create your own collection jug. Spare change stickers were sent home in backpacks - or you can make your own. Attach the sticker to an item in your recycle bin, such as a water bottle, milk carton, or shoe box. Feel free to decorate it!
  2. Fill your jug with spare change in the coming weeks!
  3. Return your jug to the Spare Change Booth on Carnival day - and receive some Carnival tickets!
  4. Enjoy the new picnic tables in the shade that YOU helped purchase!

Silent Auction

The Willard PTG holds a silent auction during the Willard Carnival with amazing prizes donated by community businesses and Willard Families. Prizes often include ticket packages to Boston area sports events, vacation rentals, spa or salon services, home decorating services, cases of wine and so much more! See the Willard Carnival Silent Auction page for more information. And view the Auction Brochure to see what you coud win!

Raffle

A raffle is also held during the Willard Carnival. Raffle tickets are sold by students and during Carnival for $1.00 each. The drawing typically takes place around 3:15 p.m. Winners are announced by the DJ and need not be present to win.

Raffle ticket packages are sent home in backpacks to allow students to sell tickets. Back by popular demand, the student who sells the most tickets will become the Willard VIP for the day giving them many special privileges at Willard. A special class reward will be offered to the class that sells the most raffle tickets. However, students and their families are in no way required to buy or sell tickets. See the Willard Carnival Raffle page for more information.

cake walk

Cake Walk

One of the most popular events at the Willard Carnival is the Cake Walk. Students and their families bake and/or decorate cakes before Carnival which are donated to the Cake Walk. Cake decorating parties are are sponsored at some Willard family homes in the days before Carnival. The decorated cakes are judged and prizes are won in many different categories. And then the walk begins. Players pay Carnival tickets to participate in the Cake Walk, which functions somewhat like musical chairs - where the player who lands on the winning "seat" in each round can win a cake. See the Cake Walk page for more information and photos of some winning cakes!

poster

Student Posters Advertising Willard Carnival

Each year Willard students decorate poster flyers advertising the Willard Carnival. The posters are sent home in backpacks; additional copies are available here. Students color and decorate the posters however they wish. Then the students or Carnival committee hang the posters around town to invite people outside of the immediate Willard community to attend Willard Carnival. All students who complete a poster by the deadline receive a prize. See the Carnival Poster Form for more information.
