The Elementary Schools Family Friends Council consists of volunteer parents from all three of the Concord Elementary Schools. Comprised of members from Boston and Concord, Family Friends has proved to be a wonderful resource to families in our school community from both towns.

With the help of volunteer community liaisons, each Boston resident student (family) is paired with ideally two Concord resident students (family) at the same school and grade level. Family Friends serve as cooperating partners and “good neighbors” or as reference points in the Concord community.

We provide a late bus one Tuesday a month chaperoned by Family Friends Council members, in a rotation. It allows Elementary School children the opportunity to have playdates together, in Concord and Boston. The METCO Family Friends Council sponsors activities during the year in Boston and Concord that provide opportunities for families to get together, for example a welcome back picnic, a winter assembly, an ice cream social, and the annual Dessert and Discussion.
