The Willard PTG is pleased to present another exciting year of cultural enrichment. Included in the roster are
several all school cultural assemblies and curricula-related assemblies for some grade levels. Thanks to the
generosity of the PTG we continue to present high quality artistic programs that supplement and enhance our
students' education. Any comments regarding this year's programs or suggestions for those in the future

Wednesday and Thursday, October 14th & October 15th
Author Mitali Perkins presents an assembly to the 5th grade on Wednesday followed by one
classroom workshop on 10/14 and the two other classrooms workshops 10/15.
Thursday, October 15th
Author Suzy Kline presents two grade-wide assemblies for the 2nd and 3rd grades.
Friday, October 16th
Author/Illustrator Brian Lies will visit all the 1st grade classrooms. Author Barbara O’Connor
presents an assembly to the 4th grade followed by classroom workshops.

Bash the Trash! (Grades K-5)
Bash the Trash builds and performs on instruments made from recycled and reused materials. Each
interactive performance is a journey into sound, science and music - how instruments are made, why
they work, and how to make your own. They also highlight environmental issues and how each of us

Opera to Go! (Grades K-5)
What is an opera? In this interactive program, Opera to Go answers that question by creating vivid
characters and exciting stories. After leading students through the basic elements of opera-arias,
duets and recitative, Opera to Go spontaneously composes an opera out of a favorite fairy tale or
historical event. The audience is then invited to join in the improvised finale, either as the chorus or

Tanglewood Marionettes - Dragon King (Grades K-5)
A terrible drought has overtaken the land, and all the world has turned brown and lifeless. The
Dragon King is ruler over all things water, and the people are beginning to wonder why he has not
brought the life-giving rains in such a very long time.
This is an underwater fantasy based on Chinese folklore. It is a tale of an intrepid Grandmother who
journeys to the bottom of the sea to seek the Dragon King and the answers to why he has forsaken the

Angkor Dance Troupe (Grades K-5)
The Angkor Dance Troupe will present elegant and ancient classical dance form, as well as lively and
upbeat folk dances that celebrate everyday village life. With sparkling silk costumes and gold jewelry,
the show promises to entertain and educate about the legends, ceremonies and customs of the
Cambodian people. It will also illustrate how Cambodian dance symbolizes the beauty and

Blacksnake Woman (Grade 2)
Blacksnake Woman and Traveling Medicine Dog will visit each 2nd grade classroom and hold a
council meeting. Every child will have the opportunity to ask a question about one of the many Native
American tools, clothing items, or toys which Gale Blacksnake brings along.
